Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund. If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this. The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible.
If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format. You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond. Please be aware that a summary of your enquiry, without your contact details, will appear on this page once submitted. This ensures others are aware that an enquiry has been made and can read the response to avoid duplicate enquiries.
Information provided by you to us will be used for the purpose of managing the grant enquiry, for further details please read our Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy. As a charity, War Memorials Trust relies on voluntary donations and every contribution, no matter how large or small, makes a really big difference to our work.
The propeller is still in good condition, but the post which has been got at by the frost is now leaning. I was approached recently by a group of chaps from Rayleigh, and asked if I would assist them in yet another restoration attempt. I also found the road where he lived in Finchley, and the site where his house used to stand. The road is still called Welbeck Avenue.
Further research led me to an elderly lady who was the niece of Captain Kynoch. It now resides with me and is a marvellous item. These two gentleman were our first Battle of Britain heroes, up trying to get to the Gothas before they got to London. With the way the world is changing today, we must never let the memorials to these young lads fall into disrepair, they are a very important link to our continued survival as nation.

To all our sponsors and donors big and small a huge thank you. More details on our news page. We are always looking for new information and particularly photographs of any of the men who are featured on here, as well as any that have a connection to the area that we have missed. Our original campaign was to ensure that our town finally had a fitting war memorial after our original was demolished in to make way for a new road, After nearly six years of efforts, successes and set backs along the way we finally achieved that aim when our new memorial was unveiled on November 4, Have a look at our 'Story so Far' page to see some of the things we have done or are now doing.
The second stage of this project is to repair and restore the World War II Avenue of Remembrance which is a tree lined footpath running through the centre of the park.
